Fidelity International Limited ('FIL') and FMR Corp notified The Weir Group PLC
('the Company') on 10 February 2006 that their material interest now totalled a
holding of 19,583,550 ordinary shares in the Company representing 9.54% of the
Company's issued share capital as detailed in the table below, and that such
notification also comprised the interest of Edward C. Johnson III as a principal
shareholder of Fidelity and FMR Corp.

The notification of change is due to the purchase of 3,441,958 ordinary shares.

Percentage holdings are calculated using an issued share capital of 205,207,119
ordinary shares of GBP0.125.
