Fidelity International Limited ('Fidelity') and FMR Corp notified The Weir Group
PLC ('the Company') on 4 July 2005 that their material interest now totalled a
holding of 22,405,400 ordinary shares in the Company representing 10.82% of the
Company's issued share capital as detailed in the table below, and that such
notification also comprised the interest of Edward C. Johnson III as a principal
shareholder of Fidelity and FMR Corp.

The notification of change is due to a disposal of 1,183,661 ordinary shares.

Percentage holdings are calculated using an issued share capital of 205,247,302
ordinary shares of GBP0.125.
