Fidelity International Limited ('Fidelity') and FMR Corp notified The Weir Group
PLC ('the Company') on 13 July 2005 that their material interest now totalled a
holding of 22,664,639 ordinary shares in the Company representing 11.04% of the
Company's issued share capital as detailed in the table below, and that such
notification also comprised the interest of Edward C. Johnson III as a principal
shareholder of Fidelity and FMR Corp.

The notification of change is due to the purchase of 259,239 ordinary shares.

Percentage holdings are calculated using an issued share capital of 205,247,302
ordinary shares of GBP0.125.
