                  ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE WEIR GROUP PLC

                           ON THURSDAY 15th MAY 2003


The Weir Group PLC announces that at the Annual General Meeting of the Company
held yesterday all of the resolutions set out in the notice of the Meeting were
duly passed and Dr Chris Fay and David Newlands duly retired as Directors of The
Weir Group PLC on 15 May 2003 following the Annual General Meeting, having
intimated their intention not to stand for re-election at the said meeting.
