J D Wetherspoon plc has today been advised that Mr John Hutson, Managing
Director of the Company, has today transferred by way of Gift, the following
ordinary shares in the Company:

Following these transfers Mr Hutson's holding has reduced his interest from
134,552 shares to 127,552 shares.
