J D Wetherspoon have today been advised that on 10 September 2002 Mr Brian
Jervis a Non Executive Director, sold 2,323 J D Wetherspoon shares at a price of
300p per share and then subsequently purchased 2,323 shares at a price of 302p
per share.

These shares will be placed in a Natwest ISA account.

Following this transaction Mr Brian Jervis holding of 34,180 shares remains
unchanged.
