J D Wetherspoon was today advised that Mr Anthony Carmel Lowrie, a non-executive
director, yesterday sold 1,000,000 ordinary shares in the Company at an average
price of 322.25p per share.


Following this transaction Mr Lowrie now has a beneficial interest in 5,062,160
shares together with a further 3,347,862 shares in Trust.
