                               Board Appointments

JD Wetherspoon plc ('JD Wetherspoon' or the 'Company') is pleased to announce
the appointment of Paul Harbottle and Su Cacioppo as executive directors of the
Company with effect from 10 March 2008.

Paul Harbottle, 39, joined JD Wetherspoon in 2003 as Head of Distribution and
was appointed to his current position of Company's Chief Operating Officer in
2007. Prior to joining JD Wetherspoon Paul was Operations Director for Golden
West Foods and has held management positions at M&W Mack Ltd, Excel Logistics
and National Freight Consortium.

Su Cacioppo, 41, joined JD Wetherspoon in 1991 as a pub shift manager. She is
currently the Company's Personnel and Legal Director having been appointed
Personnel Director in 1999 and assuming responsibility for Retail Services in
2005 and Legal in 2006.

John Hutson, Chief Executive of JD Wetherspoon, said:
