WH Smith PLC - Board Change 

WH Smith PLC announces today that MT Rainey, a Non-Executive Director since
2002, will step down from the Board following the 2008 AGM to be held on 31
January 2008 at which time she will have served two three-year terms on the
Board.

Robert Walker, Chairman, commented: 'On behalf of the Board I would
like to thank MT for her contribution, commitment and service to WH Smith
during the past 6 years and wish her well in the future.'
