The following announcement replaces the previous announcement made on 30 June 2008, AVS number 426715.  Following cancellation of the treasury shares, Whitbread now holds  174,714,281 ordinary shares and not 179,714,281 (excluding the ordinary shares held as treasury shares) in issue.  All other details remain unchanged.

Cancellation of Treasury Shares

5,000,000 ordinary shares held as treasury shares by Whitbread were cancelled today.  

Following this cancellation Whitbread now holds 14,188,806 ordinary shares as treasury shares and has 174,714,281 ordinary shares (excluding the ordinary shares held as treasury shares) in issue.
