Stewart Miller and Alan Parker join Whitbread board
Whitbread PLC today announced that Stewart Miller, Managing Director of the
Pubs and Bars Division of Whitbread and Alan Parker, Managing Director of the
Whitbread Hotel Company, have been appointed to the board of the company.
Stewart Miller (47) joined Whitbread from Unilever in 1981 and has held senior
positions in Whitbread Inns, Beefeater and Pizza Hut before taking up his
current role in March, 2000. Most recently he has been Managing Director of
Whitbread Pub Partnerships, the highly successful leased pub business.
Alan Parker (53) joined Whitbread in 1992 in his current position after five
years as a senior vice-president of Holiday Inn and before that, Managing
Director of Crest Hotels. He has led the team responsible for the rapid
growth of the Marriott and Travel Inn brands.
David Thomas, Chief Executive, said: 'Stewart and Alan have a wealth of
experience both within Whitbread and in the wider hospitality industry. They
will both make major contributions to the work of the board.'
