Whitbread PLC announces that on 6 December 2000 it purchased for cancellation
1,733,174 of its Ordinary shares at an average price of approximately 514.64p
per Ordinary share. The highest price paid was 517.5p and the lowest price was
511.0p per Ordinary share.
