Whitbread PLC - re directorate
Whitbread PLC announces that after almost 30 years on the board, Sam Whitbread
has today retired as a non-executive director of the company. Mr Whitbread
has been a director since 1972 and was Chairman from 1984 to 1992.
Sir John Banham, Chairman, said: 'On behalf of all his colleagues I should
like to thank Sam for his enormous contribution to the business. He will be
missed, not only for his commercial acumen and good judgment but also because
of his unique role as an ambassador for the company.'
Sam Whitbread said: 'The company has undertaken tremendous change to focus on
new and growing markets and is now in good shape to face its future
challenges. I have worked with many talented people and should like to thank
them for their support and for the enjoyment and stimulus they have provided.'
