In conformity with the Transparency Directive's transitional provision 6,
Whitbread PLC is required to notify the market of the following:

At the close of business on 20 July 2007, Whitbread PLC had 198,298,014 ordinary
shares in issue, of which 761,816 ordinary shares were held in Treasury.
Therefore, the total number of voting rights in Whitbread PLC was 197,536,198.
The ordinary shares have a nominal value of 76 122/153p each.

The above figure of 197,536,198 shares may be used by shareholders as the
denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are
required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest, in
Whitbread PLC under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency rules.
