Whitbread PLC - AGM trading statement
Whitbread PLC reported to today's annual general meeting that trading for the 14
weeks to June 7th had been encouraging.
Like-for-like sales growth for the 14 weeks to June 7, 2003
Marriott (2.4%)
Travel Inn 3.6%
Brewers Fayre 3.4%
Beefeater 4.5%
David Lloyd Leisure * 6.3%
* 13 weeks
David Thomas, Chief Executive, said: 'All our brands continue to perform well
against their markets with Beefeater and David Lloyd Leisure showing
particularly good like-for-like sales growth.
'The sluggish London market affected both our hotel brands but stronger
provincial trading enabled Marriott to out-perform the four-star market.
Outside the London properties, Travel Inn also performed well.
'The robust performance of our brands means that despite continuing weakness in
some of our markets, the board remains confident about the prospects for the
business.'
