                           Transactions in own shares

Wilmington Group PLC announces that it has today purchased through Hoare Govett 
Limited 130,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 200 pence per share. The 
highest price and lowest price paid for these shares was 200 pence. The 
purchased shares will all be held as treasury shares.

Following the above purchase, the Company holds 637,000 ordinary shares in 
Treasury and has a total of 83,689,679 ordinary shares (excluding shares held in 
Treasury) in issue.

The number of ordinary shares purchased represented 0.16% of the voting rights 
attributable to the total ordinary shares in issue prior to such purchases.
