                             NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

                        APPOINTMENT TO WINCANTON FRANCE


Wincanton plc ('Wincanton') is pleased to announce the appointment of Didier
Darfeuille as a non-executive director of its French operations.

Didier Darfeuille has been a leading figure in the French transport and
logistics industry for many years. He was, until recently, the Chief Executive
of Christian Salvesen plc's successful French transport activities and a senior
member of various industry and government associations.

Didier will join a new Advisory Board being formed, chaired by Graeme McFaull,
the Group Chief Executive, to reinforce Wincanton's commitment to growth in the
key French market.
