                    Appointment of non - executive Director

Wincanton plc, the leading European Supply Chain solutions company, is pleased
to announce that Mr Jonson Cox is joining the Board with immediate effect as a
non-executive Director.

Mr Cox, age 48, is currently Group Chief Executive of AWG plc, the owner of
Anglian Water and Morrison plc. Previously he has held a number of senior
positions including Chief Executive of Valpak Ltd, the business services
company, Chief Operating officer of Railtrack Group plc and Managing Director of
Kelda Group plc (formerly Yorkshire Water plc).

David Malpas, Chairman of Wincanton said: 'I am delighted to welcome Jonson to
the Board. His European experience and broad based business knowledge will be
extremely useful as Wincanton continues to develop as a European leader in
supply chain management.'


Listing Rules Notification; Mr Cox was a director of Railtrack plc from 01/09/
2000 and 31/07/2001. Railtrack was placed in railway administration on 7 October
2001 and the order was discharged on 3 October 2002. Save for those
Directorships and the administration order noted above, there is no information,
as is referred to in paragraph 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules, that is required to
be disclosed.
