Contract Win
£50 million Lafarge contract win confirms Wincanton's market leadership in the construction sector
Wincanton plc ('Wincanton' or the 'Group'), the leading European supply chain solutions provider, today announces a £50 million contract over 5 years with Lafarge Plasterboard Ltd for the operation of its UK transport network.
The new contract builds on Wincanton's existing relationship with Lafarge in Germany, and a previous contract for its roofing division in the UK. It also further accelerates the growth of Wincanton's specialist construction division, which has recorded wins with Wavin and Marley Eternit Limited in the past 12 months, helping to create a new business total of £155 million for the year. At the same time, the renewal of long term contracts with existing customers to the value of £50 million is further evidence of Wincanton's solid reputation in the market.
Wincanton is set to benefit from changes in the construction sector as greater emphasis is being placed on outsourcing supply chain services. A proven ability to generate significant cost savings for its customers and maximise assets through the facilitation of shared resources is providing opportunities for Wincanton to increase business and deliver enhanced value.
Commenting on the contract win, Graeme McFaull, Chief Executive, said:
'We are delighted to announce this new contract with Lafarge, which represents an important step for the business and underlines our market leadership in the sector
Wincanton has gained a strong reputation for delivering value in a developing market for the supply chain industry. As today's announcement demonstrates, even in challenging economic conditions, we are creating opportunities to help our customers generate cost efficiencies by leveraging our national infrastructure.'
