CEMEX bagged cement contract win for Wincanton
Wincanton, a leading provider of supply chain services in the UK & Ireland, today announces it has been awarded a three-year national distribution contract with CEMEX.
This new contract means Wincanton is now responsible for both the planning and transport of bagged cement to UK construction sites, retailers and wholesalers across the country from CEMEX's production facility in Rugby, Warwickshire, where the cement is produced, bagged and put onto pallets ready for distribution.
The contract will ultimately involve distribution of around 15,000 loads per year across the UK utilising a core fleet of CEMEX-branded vehicles.
Commenting on the announcement, Wincanton CEO Eric Born commented:
"We have worked closely with CEMEX since 2007, and in that time have demonstrated our ability to exceed expectations and add value to the partnership. I'm delighted to announce we are building on that good relationship with one of the most respected brands in the construction industry."
Craig Williamson, CEMEX's director of supply chain and logistics, said:
"When looking for a business partner we have to be 100 per cent sure that they can be trusted to deliver. For many years Wincanton has provided us with an excellent service on our building products and packed aggregates and we have no doubts about its capabilities to replicate that success with our bagged materials and ensure that we continue to meet our customer service promise."
Ends.
