Wincanton announces rapid progress and national expansion of its UK records management business
Wincanton, the leading European supply chain solutions provider, has further expanded its records management business in the UK with the addition of three new locations and a series of contract gains.
New contract gains have added 18 per cent to the base turnover of the business, which has grown by 65 per cent over the last 3 years.
This expansion represents an additional 207,000 sq ft of space, which has been created in new facilities in Bristol, Scotland and Telford in response to growing demand for the offsite storage of documents and electronic media in the financial, professional services, healthcare and government sectors.
In recent months, Wincanton Records Management has generated new business wins with a range of customers, including a 10-year contract renewal with Clifford Chance and new business with Barings Bank, Computershare and The National Archives.
As a result of this growth, the current UK flagship records centre, Beam Reach in Rainham, East London is due to reach its capacity 2 years ahead of schedule, and the business is now planning a 60,000 sq ft extension for completion in early 2010. The high level of demand has also enabled Wincanton Records Management to bring forward the opening of its 30,000 sq ft dedicated electronic media centre at the same location to June 2009. A further Wincanton Records Management facility is also due to open in Manchester to service the North of England in July 2009.
The growing strength of the Wincanton business in the UK builds on the existing market-leading presence of Wincanton Records Management in the Republic of Ireland.
In the UK & Ireland, Wincanton Records Management handles over 10 million items each year and offers customers state-of-the-art storage for documents and electronic media in facilities equipped with the highest levels of security and fire protection. It provides services throughout the lifecycle of a record, including storage, scan- on-demand delivery, image hosting, secure records disposal, on-site tracking software and records management consultancy.
