Board Changes
Witan Investment Trust plc announces forthcoming changes to the composition of
the Board.
Mr J Bevan and Mr R W Boyle will be appointed non-executive directors of the
Company with effect from 1 February 2007.
James Bevan, who is 46 and a member of the Securities Institute, is a director
and Chief Investment Officer of CCLA Investment Management Limited. He joined
CCLA in November 2006 from Abbey National Investments where he was Chief
Investment Officer. Prior to that he was Director of Client Investments and
Head of Investment Management for Inscape. Before joining Abbey in 1999 he was
Chief Investment Officer for Personal Investment Management, Executor and Trust
and Stockbrokers at Barclays, having joined BZW in 1988 following postgraduate
research in applied economics and asset allocation at Cambridge University.
There is no information to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R in respect
of Mr Bevan.
Robert Boyle, who is 58 and a Chartered Accountant, retired recently as a senior
partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He joined Coopers & Lybrand in 1969 and
has had a varied career, in the UK and overseas, covering both professional
responsibility for client accounts and management and business development
responsibilities within the firm. From 1994 to 2006 he was Chairman of the PwC
European Entertainment & Media Industry practice. There is no information to be
disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R in respect of Mr Boyle.
Mr R W C Colvill intends to stand down as a non-executive director of the
Company at the Annual General Meeting to be held on Monday 30 April 2007.
Robert Colvill joined the Board in 1994 and has been Chairman of the Audit
Committee since 2002.
Commenting on the Board changes, Harry Henderson, the Chairman of Witan, said '
We are delighted that both James Bevan and Robert Boyle have agreed to join the
Board. James Bevan brings broad experience of investment management, in
particular of the multi-manager approach that Witan has adopted, while Robert
Boyle is an expert in financial management and reporting with wide experience of
risk management, corporate governance issues and shareholder communications.
Robert Colvill will have been a director for thirteen years, during which time
we have benefited hugely from his business management skills and his experience
of the financial services industry'.
