WOOD GROUP ESP AWARDED 10-YEAR CONTRACT
IN CHAD WITH ESSO EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION CHAD INC.
Wood Group ESP, part of John Wood Group PLC ('Wood Group'), has been awarded a
10-year, performance-based contract to supply electric submersible pumping
systems and services to Esso Exploration and Production Chad Inc. (hereafter
referred to as 'EEPCI'), operator of a Consortium comprising EEPCI, Petronas
Carigali (Chad EP) Inc. and Chevron Petroleum Chad Company Limited, which is
operating in the Doba region of southern Chad. The contract includes the
maintenance and repair of pumps currently owned by the Consortium together with
the installation, maintenance and repair of new units to be supplied by Wood
Group ESP.
'We are delighted to have been awarded this long-term contract in Chad by
EEPCI,' said Joe Brady, President of Wood Group ESP. 'Together with our existing
operations in North and West Africa, the Chad contract will significantly extend
our presence on the African continent. The contract covers electric submersible
pumps and ancillary equipment installed in three oilfields in the Doba region of
southern Chad. We will make significant investments in facilities and personnel,
including the recruitment, coaching and training of local workers. Wood Group
ESP will have a core team of more than 50 personnel working on a rotational
basis in the region.'
