                            NEW CHAIRMAN APPOINTED


Workspace  Group PLC ('Workspace') announces that Alan Porter,  the  Executive
Chairman  of  the  Company has decided to take early retirement  and  will  be
leaving the Company at the end of September 1999.

Mr  Porter has been Executive Chairman since the foundation of the Company  in
1987.

The  Board  has  appointed Phillip Rhodes as non-executive Chairman.   He  has
served  as  a  non-executive  director  since  1992.   Harry  Platt,  Managing
Director, will become Chief Executive.

Phillip Rhodes said,

'   Alan  leaves  with  all  our best wishes.  His  contribution  to  building
Workspace Group into the company it is today cannot be overstated. We wish him
every success in the future.'

Alan Porter said,

'  With the company having recently completed the largest property acquisition
in its history and set fair for the future, I believe that, at 62, the time is
right  for me to hand over the reigns to a new Chairman.  I am sure  that  the
new team will build upon the achievements of the past few years.'
