WORKSPACE TO RE-INVEST IN
LONDON AND SOUTH EAST
AFTER £42M MIDLANDS DISPOSAL
Workspace Group PLC, ('Workspace'), London's leading provider of flexible
workspace to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) today announces that it
has exchanged contracts to sell its Midlands property portfolio to Northern
Trust Company Ltd, a private property company. The portfolio comprises 26
multi- let estates that totals 1.22 million sq. ft (113,338 sq. m).
The consideration is £42.3 million in cash (the same as book value).
It is Workspace's intention to re-invest the proceeds into acquiring
properties in London and the South East.
Harry Platt, Chief Executive said,
' Our Midlands portfolio has performed very well and is an excellent quality
portfolio of properties. However, we have proved that we can deliver improved
returns from investing in opportunities in the Capital and the South-East.
This disposal will provide the firepower to strengthen our dominant position
as the leading supplier of space for new and small businesses in London.
' We are determined to continue to drive our business forward. We aim to
double the floor space under our management in this region over the next five
years. Capital released from this disposal will be re-invested in London and
the South East as we pursue these ambitions, driving forward the equity
returns for our shareholders.'
