About Newcastle United FC
Newcastle United are a club with a great tradition, history and heritage. Formed in 1892, they dominated the football scene in Victorian times winning three League titles and reaching five FA Cup finals.
The Championship was won again in 1927, when United were led by the great Hughie Gallacher and then in the early 1950s, the Magpies famously made three trips to Wembley, winning the FA Cup each time with players like Jackie Milburn and Bobby Mitchell to the fore.
More recently Newcastle United won the Inter Cities Fairs Cup in 1969 (the equivalent to today's Europa League) and although there has been no silverware since, the club has retained its prominent role in English football. Newcastle United are the eighth most successful team in Premier League history (in terms of points gained), boast the third highest average attendance in the country, and are universally recognised as having some of the most passionate and loyal fans in the world of football.
The Sports Direct Arena (capacity 52,404) was redeveloped in 2000 and is one of the finest club stadia in the country.
