WPP Group PLC 5 October 2000 WPP GROUP PLC ('WPP') ACQUIRES SPANISH QUALITATIVE RESEARCH AGENCY, ERGO WPP announces that its wholly-owned operating company, Millward Brown, the worldwide market research company, has acquired 100% of the issued capital of Ergo Advanced Research S.A. ('Ergo'), a Spanish qualitative research agency. Ergo will join the Millward Brown Group in Spain in a move that makes Millward Brown the leading custom research company in the country. Following the acquisition, Millward Brown will have offices in Madrid, Barcelona and Seville employing 200 people in Spain. Ergo had revenues of Pts 1.6 billion in 1999 and net assets of Pts 326 million as at 31 December 1999. The acquisition of Ergo reinforces Millward Brown's ability to provide clients with integrated research techniques and continues WPP's strategy of strengthening existing networks in key geographic markets.
