WPP GROUP PLC ('WPP')
WPP acquires stake in US interactive healthcare marketing firm,
Medical Broadcasting Company ('MBC')
WPP announces that it has taken a minority stake and, through
its wholly-owned worldwide healthcare organisation,
CommonHealth, formed a strategic relationship with Medical
Broadcasting Company ('MBC'), a leading provider of digital-
marketing solutions to the pharmaceutical and healthcare
industries in the US.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, MBC combines an expertise in
interactive development and healthcare-marketing communications
for its clients, which include the top 20 pharmaceutical and
healthcare companies in the US. MBC had revenues of $19.6
million in 1999 and net assets of $764,000 as of 31 December
1999.
MBC recently launched ePharmaceuticals(TM), the first
e-business intelligence system exclusively devoted to
monitoring and analyzing the impact of the Internet on
the pharmaceutical industry.
This initiative continues WPP's strategy of developing its new
media interests both through the strengthening of established
businesses and directly through new ventures.
