WPP GROUP ('WPP')
WPP acquires interactive agency Coolfire in the United States
WPP announces that its wholly-owned operating company, J Walter Thompson
Company ('JWT') has acquired 100% of the equity of Coolfire Interactive,
Inc., ('Coolfire'), a US-based interactive agency providing internet
services to the Ford Motor Company.
Based in New York City, Coolfire specialises in facilitating web-based
business communications between client organisations and their dealers,
franchisees and employees. It will continue to operate as a distinct
unit within JWT, working especially closely with the agency's Detroit
and New York offices.
Coolfire had revenues of $3.9 million for 1999 and net assets of
$1 million as at 31 December 1999.
The acquisition of Coolfire strengthens JWT's comprehensive marketing
services resources and talent to one of its - and WPP Group's -
principal clients in business-related new media.
