WPP GROUP PLC ('WPP')
Acquires e-services consultancy,
Imaginet, in the United States
WPP announces the acquisition of Imaginet, an e-services consultancy based in
Minneapolis in the US.
Founded in 1991, Imaginet develops advanced e-business solutions that combine
elements of technology, user-experience and business strategy to help
companies successfully create and manage e-business channels.
The company's revenues were $12.5 million in 2000 and net assets were $1.2
million at 31 December 2000.
Imaginet employs over 100 internet professionals in the areas of technology,
business and design. Clients include Dain Rauscher, DirectAg.com, Goodyear
Tire and Rubber Company, Medtronic and Express Scripts, Inc. Its portfolio of
work includes sophisticated document management systems and database-driven
websites.
The acquisition of Imaginet, which has worked closely with J. Walter Thompson,
will provide further technology support to enhance marketing and business
solutions for WPP's clients.
The acquisition continues WPP's strategy of developing its new media interests
both directly through the strengthening of established businesses and
indirectly through new ventures.
