WPP Group PLC 11 June 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 11 June 2001 WPP GROUP PLC ('WPP') Millward Brown acquires advertising research agency, Impact, in South Africa WPP announces that its wholly-owned operating company, Millward Brown, the leading market research company, has acquired 100% of the issued capital of Impact Information (Pty) Limited ('Impact'), a South African advertising research agency. Based in Johannesburg, Impact provides ad-hoc research services, specialising in advertising research and is well known for its proprietary media tool, Adtrack. Clients include Telkom, Bayer, Unilever and Standard Bank. The agency, which employs 30 people, had revenues of Rand 12.4 million for the year to 30 June 2000 and net assets of Rand 1.4 million at that date. The acquisition of Impact reinforces Millward Brown's ability to provide clients with integrated research techniques and continues WPP's strategy of strengthening its networks in important growth sectors and markets.
