Burson-Marsteller acquires Communique PR in the UK
WPP announces that its wholly-owned operating company, Burson-Marsteller ('
Burson'), the international public relations and public affairs firm has
acquired Communique Public Relations Limited ('Communique'), the
Manchester-based independent public relations consultancy.
Communique employs 35 people and its clients include Beefeater, Boddingtons,
Whitbread Pub Partnerships, AGA Foodservice Group, Pilkington, Thorntons and
Glanbia. The firm had revenues of £2.8 million for the year to 30 September
2000 and net assets of £0.5 million at that date.
The acquisition of Communique further broadens Burson's public relations and
public affairs offer to clients and continues WPP's strategy of strengthening
its networks in important growth sectors and markets.
