FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 11 December 2001
WPP GROUP ('WPP')
WPP's Red Cell acquires advertising agency
Berlin Cameron & Partners in the United States
WPP announces that its wholly-owned operating company, Red Cell, has acquired
100% of the equity of Berlin Cameron & Partners, LLC ('Berlin Cameron'), the
US-based creative advertising agency.
Established in 1997 and based in New York City, Berlin Cameron has a strong
creative reputation. It employs 40 people and services blue-chip clients such
as Coca-Cola, National Basketball Association, New York Life Insurance,
Ralston Purina and Reebok. The agency will continue to operate as a distinct
unit within Red Cell's global network.
Berlin Cameron had revenues of approximately $20 million for the year 2000 and
net assets of $1.5 million as at 31 December 2000.
The acquisition of Berlin Cameron strengthens Red Cell's US presence and
reinforces the creative capability of the network. This continues WPP's
strategy of establishing a leadership position in important sectors and
geographical regions.
