                             WPP GROUP PLC ('WPP')

41,986 new ordinary shares have been issued in satisfaction of the Management
Group Incentive Payment Scheme dated 20th October 1997 between WPP, Buchanan
Communications Limited and certain employees of Buchanan Communications Limited.

Application has been made to the U.K. Listing Authority for the new ordinary
shares to be admitted to the Official List and to the London Stock Exchange for
the new ordinary shares to be traded on the London Stock Exchange.  It is 
expected that dealings in the new ordinary shares will commence on 20 June 2000.
 The new ordinary shares will rank pari passu in all respects with the
current issued ordinary shares of WPP Group Plc.
