WPP appoints Christopher Mackenzie
as non-executive director
WPP Group ('WPP') has appointed Christopher Mackenzie to
its Board with immediate effect. He is currently partner
and principal at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice ('CD&R'), the
US-based private equity firm.
Christopher Mackenzie, 45, has worked with some of the
world's leading manufacturing and service companies:
GE, Schroders, JP Morgan, McKinsey and the Swire Group.
At CD&R, Mackenzie's role has involved establishing the
London office and identifying, structuring and executing
European investment opportunities.
Before joining CD&R, Mackenzie's background included
banking, consulting and industry in Hong Kong, New York,
London and Tokyo. A British citizen, he was born in
Munich and speaks five languages. Educated at Oxford
University with an MBA from INSEAD in France, he lectures
on business policy at INSEAD.
At GE, he was a Corporate Officer assigned to GE Capital,
where he was Senior Vice President for global business
development and President, Europe. GE Capital became a
significant presence in European finance with its
European assets growing from $5 billion to $45billion and
net profits rising from $60million to $850million. From
1994 to mid 1998 his team made over 80 investments in 18
Western and Central European countries.
Christopher Mackenzie will become the ninth non-executive
director on the WPP Board, bringing the total number of
directors to 14.
