WPP GROUP PLC ('WPP')
WPP has been informed on 18 May, 2000 the family
interests of Sir Martin Sorrell, a director of WPP,
purchased 25,000 ordinary shares of 10p each at £8.18 per
share on 17 May, 2000. These shares were purchased as
part of the required commitment under the Leadership
Equity Acquisition Plan ('LEAP') approved by shareowners
in September 1999.
At today's date Sir Martin Sorrell and his family
interests (either directly through share ownership, the
Capital Investment Plan, the Notional Share Award Plan or
phantom share options) are interested in or have rights
in 13,368,414 Ordinary Shares (approximately 1.72% of the
Ordinary Share Capital of the Company).
