Subsidiary Acquires Sifo Research & Consulting

Research International acquires Sifo Research & Consulting

WPPs wholly-owned operating company, Research International
('RI'), has acquired Sifo Research & Consulting ('SRC'), a
division of Sifo Group A.B., which is listed on the
Stockholm Stock Exchange.

SRC is the market leader in Sweden in market research and
related consulting services and a leading research company
in Norway and Denmark, employing 375 people.  It offers
clients brand and communications management, media analysis,
market strategy development and market planning, public
opinion polling, healthcare research and a proprietary
measurement service, Management of Intangible Assets, which
is used by clients to measure the impact of change
management programmes using online information collection
and delivery systems.   SRC had revenues of SEK 400 million
in 1999 and had net assets of SEK 100 million  at  31
December 1999.

Jon Wilkinson, chairman and ceo of Research International

Research International strength in countries which are
leading the way in the new service economies. '

consumer and customer research and related consulting
services has become much more international in recent years.
As clients operate with pan-European or global concepts, the
ability to offer international market research and
consulting services is vital.  At the same time, product and
service development is becoming more important within the
market research industry and this is an area where economies
of scale are a key factor.'

Under the agreement, RI, the world leader in custom market
research consulting, acquires all the operations of SRC,
together with the Sifo brand name.

This acquisition continues WPPs strategy of strengthening
existing networks worldwide in the fast-growing sectors of
communications services.
