                    Christopher Sandland appointed Chairman

The board of Young & Co.'s Brewery, P.L.C. today announces that Christopher
Andrew Sandland, a non-executive director of Young's, has been appointed
non-executive Chairman with immediate effect. This appointment follows the death
of former Chairman, John Young CBE, announced on Monday, 18 September 2006.

Christopher Sandland, aged 57, worked for Young's for over 32 years in a variety
of roles, including as Company Secretary from 1987 to 2005 and as Personnel
Director from 1990 to April 2006. He retired from the Company as an executive
director in April 2006 and, after a short break, rejoined the Young's board as a
non-executive director on 5 July.
