               Appointment of non-executive Director
                                 
Young  &  Co's  Brewery P.L.C. is pleased to  announce  that  Lord
Sharman  of  Redlynch OBE is to join the Board as a  non-executive
Director with effect from 1st October 1999.

Lord   Sharman,   aged   56,  is  currently   Chairman   of   KPMG
International,  a  position that he has held  since  1997,  having
previously  been  Chairman  and then UK  Senior  Partner  of  KPMG
Management  Consulting Worldwide.  He is due to retire  from  KPMG
International on 30th September 1999.

Lord Sharman is a non-executive Director of AEA Technology plc and
of  Aegis  Group plc, and is Chairman of Le Gavroche Ltd.   He  is
also  a  Member of the Council of the CBI and a Companion  of  the
British Institute of Management.
