GUINNESS PEAT RESOLUTIONS REJECTED
At the Annual General Meeting of Young & Co's Brewery PLC held
earlier today, the four resolutions proposed by 10% shareholder,
Guinness Peat Group, were overwhelmingly rejected, in each case on a
show of hands.
Set out below is an analysis of the totals of the voting proxies
received by the company in respect of Guinness Peat's Resolutions.

Commenting on the result, John Young, Chairman of Young & Co said:
'This is now the third year running that shareholders have resoundingly
rejected Guinness Peat's proposals to alter our share structure.
I hope that this time Guinness Peat will accept the outcome of this
vote. Once again the Board has been given a clear mandate from
shareholders to continue the implementation of its strategy and I
look forward to announcing further progress in the months ahead.'
