ZCCM AGREEMENTS SIGNING TODAY
On 21 December 1999, Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Limited (ZCCM) announced
that it has awarded the sale of the Mufulira Division and the Nkana Mines,
Concentrator and Cobalt Plant (but not the Smelter, Refinery and Acid Plant of
Nkana Division) to a consortium comprising Glencore International AG and First
Quantum Minerals Limited.
ZCCM is pleased to announce that the agreement for the sale of the assets to the
Glencore/First Quantum Consortium was signed in Lusaka today.
The closing of this sale is conditional on the approval of ZCCM's shareholders
and to the necessary stock exchange approvals. A circular will be issued to
ZCCM shareholders in the near future and Closing is expected to occur in
March 2000.
