Directorate and oil & gas technical team appointment
Rose Petroleum, is pleased to announce the strengthening of its oil and gas team with the appointment of Kelly Scott to the board of Directors and Dr Fivos Spathopoulos as Chief Geologist. Both appointments take place with immediate effect.
Mr Scott has been appointed to the board as Technical Director. He has over 40 years' experience in onshore and offshore drilling, construction and completion. He is credited with drilling the first horizontal shale gas wells within the EU and also the completion of the first shale gas frac (slickwater and cross link gel) within the EU, both of which were completed successfully without any environmental or safety incidents and on time and within budget. Mr Scott has been involved in well designs from water table monitoring wells to deep hydrogen sulphide gas wells in both vertical and horizontal applications. Mr Scott has drilling experience from Southeast Asia offshore to onshore South America and the Middle East. Throughout his career, Mr Scott has maintained an outstanding record of HSE environmental and regulatory compliance. Mr Scott will be responsible for building shale gas drilling and completion programmes and overseeing field wellsite supervision, field drilling coordination and field construction/regulatory coordination.
Dr. Fivos Spathopoulos has been appointed as the Chief Geologist to the Company and is responsible for the development of the Company's exploration programmes and assessment of new projects. He holds a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of London and has more than 20 years' experience in conventional petroleum exploration. Dr Spathopoulos has extensive experience in international exploration, studying many sedimentary basins and petroleum systems around the world. He has been working as a shale-gas/shale-oil exploration geologist in Europe since 2007 where he studied the organic geochemistry, lithology and gas content of a large number of black shales in Europe. He is an expert on organic geochemistry and maturity modelling. He has also developed an effective method of estimating potential shale-gas/shale-oil quantities in new basins. Dr. Spathopoulos is also a Visiting Lecturer in Petroleum Geology at Imperial College London. He is a member of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain and the Geological Society of London and is also a member of the United Nations group that creates the UNFC (United Nations Fossil Fuel and Mineral Classification).
