             Appointment of Jan Astrand as Non-executive Director



Northgate plc, the UK's leading commercial vehicle hire company, is pleased to
announce that Mr. Jan Astrand has agreed to join the Board of the company as a
non-executive Director with immediate effect.



Mr. Astrand (53), a Swedish national based in London, is the Managing Director
of MVI Group, an international private equity company.  From 1994 to 1999 he
was President and Chief Executive of Axus (International) Inc. (previously
known as Hertz Leasing International).  From 1989 to 1994, he was Vice
President, Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer of Hertz
(Europe) Ltd.  Mr. Astrand has an MBA from Gothenburg School of Economics and
Business Administration.



There are no disclosures required in respect of Jan Astrand under paragraph
6.F.2(b) to (g) of the Listing Rules.
