Ten Alps Communications PLC: Contract gain with BBC Scotland
Ten Alps Communications PLC ('Ten Alps'), the media group, announces that one of
its production companies, Know Comment, has won the BBC contract to provide live
TV coverage of the four 2004 political party conferences in Scotland.
This is the first time conference coverage has been contracted out to the
independent TV sector by BBC Scotland. The contract was won in a competitive
tender.
Know Comment, which is based in Edinburgh and London, is working with Bowtie
Television, who will supply the technical staff and facilities for the live
outside broadcasts.
The same two companies broke new ground last Autumn, when they were the first
independents to produce live coverage of a UK party conference, for BBC 2 of the
Liberal Democrats.
Notes
Know Comment is a subsidiary company in the Ten Alps group. It was founded as an
agency representing some 40 political commentators for their media appearances.
It has since branched out into production of TV programming in social affairs
and politics, and last Autumn it was launched in Scotland.
Ten Alps group companies already produce a range of political programming.
Documentary producer Brook Lapping made the award-winning 'The Fall of
Milosevic' series for BBC2. Ten Alps Broadcasting recently produced the BBC2
political series 'The Sharp End' with Clive Anderson, and the company produces
political programmes for BBC Radio.
