Ten Alps Communications plc: Teachers' TV launch details
Media group Ten Alps Communications plc ('Ten Alps') today provides the launch
details for the 'Teachers' TV' channel.
The launch date is Tuesday, February 8th at 12.30. The channel will broadcast
24 hours a day, seven days a week on digital satellite, ntl, Telewest, KIT,
HomeChoice and overnight on Freeview.
Teachers' TV aims to help busy education professionals by enabling them to share
the ideas and practical experience of their colleagues. In particular it will
let teachers observe what goes on in others' classrooms. The channel will show
programmes of interest to all who work in schools - over one million people,
from head teachers to newly qualified teachers, governors to support staff. The
channel is owned and financed by the Department for Education and Skills.
Programming will cover training and development, education news and current
affairs, classroom observation and analysis, and resource reviews.
Curriculum-based programmes for use in the classroom will also form part of the
schedule. A Board of Governors, comprising senior educational and media figures,
will ensure the editorial independence of the channel.
Teachers' TV programmes will be supported by an interactive website, containing
downloadable resources (such as lesson plans and worksheets). Many programmes
will also be available to view and download online.
