Ten Alps RNS Statement:
Trading Update on New TV and Radio Productions
Media group Ten Alps Communications PLC ('Ten Alps', 'the group') announces a
trading update on new television and radio productions. Sales growth in this
area, the group's core business, is to date meeting the Board's expectations for
the fiscal year ending March 2005 and the six months ending 30 September 2005.
New TV Productions
The group's subsidiary production companies are currently doing particularly
well in docudrama (part documentary, part drama and generally higher-budget than
pure factual programming.) New productions are as follows:
* Zero Hour 2, a series of six one-hour docudrama films for Discovery Europe,
Middle East and Asia and for History Channel Canada, co-produced with Cineflix
International. (3BM TV).
* Catherine the Great, for BBC, PBS, ARTE and NDR, a major two hour docudrama,
to be filmed on location in Russia and the UK. (Brook Lapping).
* The Flight that Fought Back (the story of 9/11's Flight 93), 90-minute
docudrama for Discovery US. (Brook Lapping).
* Ten Days to Victory, a 2 x 50' docudrama special for National Geographic
International to commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of VE Day (3BM TV) (Both
this and the two above projects were quoted as possible productions in 2004.).
* Live Conference Coverage of the four Scottish political party conferences for
BBC Scotland, in February and March. (Know Comment).
* The Likes of Us, one-hour film for Channel 4, based on Michael Collins'
acclaimed book, presented by the author. (3BM West).
* Evil, one-hour film for Channel 4, presented by the Tom Wright, Bishop of
Durham. (Blakeway).
* The Middle Classes, one-hour film for Channel 4, presented by Tristram Hunt.
(Blakeway).
* Seeing is Believing, a 45-minute film for Standard Chartered Bank about
avoidable blindness in the developing world. (Blakeway).
* Events that Changed our World, a 90-minute special for Five, presented by
Michael Buerk. (3BM TV).
* Britain's Cold War Superweapons, a 90-minute film for Channel 4 about bombs,
planes and rockets in the 1950s. (Blakeway).
New Radio Productions
In the recent commissioning rounds for BBC networks as a whole, Ten Alps
subsidiary companies achieved more than double the previous year's sales of
documentary and music programmes. New projects include:
* Point of View, for BBC Radio 4, a 13-part series of political talks (Brook
Lapping).
* The Smith Lectures, series 13 for BBC Radio 2 (Ten Alps Radio, as are all
below).
* Classic Singles for BBC Radio 2, an 8-part series highlighting the importance
of some of the most influential singles in rock history.
* Madonna, a 3 hour special for BBC Radio 2, marking 21 years since her first
hit.
* The Mamas & Papas Story, The James Dean Story, Aerosmith, all for BBC Radio 2.
