Capita Plc (CPI) is a British multinational company specialising in business process outsourcing and professional services.
It is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. Capita was founded in 1984 as a division of the non-profit Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
In 1987, it became an independent company with 33 staff as a result of a management buy-out, led by Rod Aldridge. It was first listed on the LSE in 1991.
Over the years, Capita has grown organically and through targeted acquisitions to become one of the most successful European outsourcing companies. It provides a wide range of front office and back office services for both the public and private sectors. Capita's enduring presence on the LSEG testifies to its significant role in the global business process outsourcing industry.
