Centrica PLC, known as CNA on the London Stock Exchange (LSE), is a British multinational energy and services company. Founded on March 16, 1995, Centrica's roots trace back to the establishment of the Gas Light and Coke Company (GLCC) in 1812. The GLCC was responsible for lighting the streets of London and eventually expanded into domestic gas supply.
Over the years, Centrica has grown into one of the UK’s leading energy companies. It was formed on February 17, 1997, following the demerger of British Gas plc, which was renamed BG plc. The gas sales and trading, services and retail businesses, alongside gas production from the North and South Morecambe fields, were transferred to Centrica.
It is listed on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker CNA. Centrica share price launched at 98p in 1995.
