Latest drilling results from Sekisovskoye underground project, Kazakhstan

Hambledon Mining Plc (AIM: HMB), the Kazakhstan gold mining and development company, continues to advance its underground drill programme to validate and expand the geological resources at Sekisovskoye and today reports the results of a further 18 drill holes.

Key results from the programme during July and August 2011 are as follows:

  • Eighteen holes drilled over a total of 2,300 metres
  • Significant intersections since the last update include:
  • Hole 30 – 14m at 1.48 g/t Au
  • Hole 31 – 8.6m at 1.49 g/t Au, 5m at 2.49 g/t Au
  • Hole 37 – 2m at 13.46 g/t Au
  • Hole 47 – 3m at 10.87 g/t Au

To date, a total of 47 drill holes over 7,100m have been completed in the upper levels of the underground ore zones and the results are consistent with the modelling previously carried out but with increases in the overall widths of mineralisation when compared with the drilling undertaken in the 1990s and historically in the Soviet era.

The assays were carried out in the Altai Ken-Bayitu laboratory with independent verification to be undertaken by the Alex Stewart Group in Karabalta, Kyrgyzstan.

The Sekisovskoye deposit comprises approximately ten large mineralised zones intermingled with numerous narrow and sinuous mineralisation zones. The zones of mineralisation show wide variation in thickness from 0.35 metres to 30 metres, with a weighted average of 5.5 metres. The zones display a localised pinch and swell structure, with variable gold and silver content. The large average width makes for easier and lower cost mining.

The results are providing the basis for the upgraded modelling of Sekisovskoye which will form the basis for the stope definition and detailed mine engineering that is being undertaken by Golders Associates UK, and Canada. Upon completion of these studies later in 2011, Hambledon will be able to update its mineable reserve statement.
