Dublin, London, 22 October, 2008: Smurfit Kappa Group plc ('SKG' or the
'Group'), one of the world's largest integrated manufacturers of paper-based
packaging products, with operations in Europe and Latin America, today announces
that it will release 2008 third quarter results on Wednesday, November 12, 2008
at 07.00 GMT (02.00 ET).

Q3 Results Conference Call

The SKG senior management team will discuss 2008 third quarter financial
performance with analysts & institutional investors on a conference call
scheduled for 14.00 GMT (09.00 ET) on that date.

Deutsche Bank Conference

The Group also announces that SKG's CEO, Mr. Gary McGann, will present at the
Deutsche Bank 6th European Paper Seminar at 09.15 GMT on that day. Mr McGann's
presentation at the conference will include comments on third quarter trading.
